Apple and Microsoft have announced that the Apple TV app will be featured in Xbox Series S, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X next week. The announcement also includes information about the launch of the new Xbox consoles on November 10. The platform of Xbox will be known as the first console to feature the Apple TV app whereas PlayStation 5 will not be featuring it at the time of the launch. The brand Sony also announced PS5 entertainment applications in the month of October, but for some reasons, the Apple TV application was not there on the list.
The naming of
Apple might confuse a lot of customers and viewers, so here is the clear information.
The Apple TV provides access to the Apple TV+, which is known as the Netflix
competitor, and also allows renting or buying movies from iTunes Store, which
is now known as the Apple TV now, and iTunes is slowly disappearing. The Apple
TV+ provides access to only 45 TV shows and movies whereas the latter provides
access to over 35,000 TV shows and movies in the US, and 2,500 movies in India.
In addition,
with the help of the Apple TV app, you can access Apple TV channels that are
built essentially as other streaming services in Apple TV app. In India, the
options are Tastemade (Rs. 79 per month) and Eros Now Select (Rs. 39 per
month). The list of the US is much longer and includes Britbox, AMC+, Cinemax,
Mubi, Starz, CBS All access, Epix, and Showtime with the price range of $6 to
$11 per month.
The Xbox
family includes a long list of third party devices for Apple, which are Roku,
Fire TV Stick, and Amazon Fire TV Cube devices, and Airplay 2 enabled TVs from
Insignia, Onida, Sony, Vizio, Toshiba, LG or select Smart TVs. It is also
available on all Apple devices including iPad, MacBook, iPhone, or Apple TV (it
is a streaming box, which has the same name as the app).
For Xbox, the
Apple TV app includes Amazon Prime Video, Netflix, Spotify, YouTube, HBO Max,
Disney+, Hulu, NBC Peacock, FandangoNow, Sky Go, NOW TV, Vudu, Sky ticket,
Twitch, and YouTube TV among others.
